mission
Our ambition is to create more female tech billionaires.
We believe the next generation of unicorns can and will be built by women. There is persistent underrepresentation of female technical talent, which is too often overlooked despite its immense potential, and we think this talent is capable of disrupting the industry completely.
TTB enables women in highly technical fields to launch their startup through our community, events, & accelerator programme, running every summer.
why we exist
Female-founded startups consistently outperform startups with all-male teams, yet receive a fraction of the venture funding:
- Studies show that when presented with identical pitches, both male and female investors rate those pitched by men more favourably.
- Both male and female investors rate identical pitches more highly when they were told a male investor had already invested in the company (compared to a female investor).
- When pitching, male founders are more often asked “promotion” questions focused on what might go right, compared to female founders who are asked "prevention" questions focused on what might go wrong; and in comparable companies, entrepreneurs who were asked primarily “prevention” questions raise an average of seven times less than founders who were mostly asked “promotion” questions.
We believe in creating an entirely new pipeline for backing exceptional female founders, from idea stage to pre-seed all the way through to exit or IPO.

In partnership with Unit M at the University of Manchester, we ran a startup weekend in a hotel in Cheshire - complete with a gym, sauna, steam room, and pool - centred around "day 1 of building your startup".
"Thank you so much for organising this! I've left with such a desire to actually take action on ideas I have after seeing how much I could do in just a day! We were staying up late, waking up at 5, working non stop but it didn't feel like work at all. Also was amazing to meet so many cool women!!"
"I think the presentations were SO SO helpful because they really gave us a foundation of the basics from scratch. I think I left with a much more informed and confident mindset. "I really enjoyed the activity. My main barrier currently isn't motivation or capacity but rather perfectionism and waiting for the right idea. So having a bad idea day for focus on building confidence literally is something I would do again! Absolutely feel more informed and more likely to look into start up possibilities. Thank you so happy we were able to make this happen!"
"Truly a one-of-a-kind experience for me. I really enjoyed the challenge of going from zero to an MVP in just one day - it pushed us beyond our limits and forced us to deliver a pitch by the end. The event required a wide range of skills, from creativity and innovation to collaboration and public speaking. I think it all came together really well, and I'm incredibly grateful to have been a part of it."
"The atmosphere was great and loved how non-serious it was, made it all feel very comfortable. It was a first time for me attending such an event and it definitely has opened my mind up to possibilities!"
"It has been a lovely day and I met lots of wonderful people at the event. I'm definitely more interested in founding my own startup after the event, and feel more confident about doing so:)"

"10/10 Exactly what the startup and STEM climate needed! It goes a long way towards influencing sociological biases and helping like-minded people connect, especially when these like-minded people are very rare! The more extraordinary the gathering, the higher chances for unicorns ;) And community is a BIG part of the equation. Thank you! <3"
"Awesome evening, loved the low stakes fun environment of making a "bad" idea. I think that was really helpful."
"I loved that we worked on different ideas from the ones we proposed. It made it so that we weren't too set on one idea and it was fun to see the demo at the end for our concept."

"I love it! It was fun! I especially love the food and drinks served :))) And I love the photos too 🥹 Thank you for such a wonderful event!"
"Amazing event. It was really nice to get back to hands-on coding. I actually came in thinking that the time planned for hacking would not be even close to enough for an MVP. However, all groups were able to execute their projects, which was great to see. The food was great too ;) Overall, a day spent productively well."
"The atmosphere was harmonious yet professional beyond my expectations. Loved it!"
